Ženidba Smailagina sina
- Prolog -
In narrative traditions of the Eastern Hemisphere,
prodigiously wealthy magnates commonly had pairs of servants
with rhyming names, as for instance:
- Baldu Bayan’s Ahalji and
Bahalji in the Manchurian Tale of the Nishan Shamaness.
- Harun Ar-Rashīd’s Ἀfīf and
Wasīf in the tale of Ἀli ibn Bekkar and the
sultan’s concubine in the Arabic Alf Laylah wa Laylah
(Thousand and One Nights).
- Smailaga’s Vukašin and
Vujadin, beginning at v. 2154 of Međedović’s
present poem.
